For International Men's Day, Milaidhoo Maldives is running Gentlemen & Cocktails at its Compass Pool Bar: a bartender-led workshop, then a timed contest judged by partners, with the winning drink on the menu for a week.
Milaidhoo Maldives in Baa Atoll turns ten this November, and as part of the anniversary it is marking International Men's Day (19 November) with a playful event for male guests and their partners called Gentlemen & Cocktails.
How it works
It takes place at Compass Pool Bar. The resort's bartenders start with a short workshop on the basics of mixing a good cocktail. Then the contest begins: each participant gets a black box of mystery ingredients that must go into the drink, and picks one extra herb, vegetable or aromatic from the resort's Chef's Garden.
There is a time limit, and partners act as the judges, scoring each cocktail on flavour, presentation and originality. The winning recipe becomes Compass Pool Bar's Cocktail of the Day for a week, and the winning couple can order their creation as often as they like for the rest of their stay.
The resort says the day also honours the men who have helped build and run Milaidhoo over its first ten years.
