The island

Cocogiri Island Resort Maldives is a boutique resort on a 4-hectare island in Vaavu Atoll, about 20 minutes from Velana International Airport by seaplane or 75 minutes by speedboat. With just 40 rooms, it has an intimate feel, and its outstanding house reef is the main attraction. Vaavu is known for dramatic channel diving with manta rays and sharks, and whale sharks are seen in the wider region.

Getting there

Cocogiri Island Resort Maldives is reached from Velana International Airport (MLE) in Malé, the main international gateway to the Maldives. The speedboat transfer takes about 75 minutes, and speedboats can usually run after dark too, which helps with late arrivals. The seaplane flight takes about 20 minutes, with views over the atolls on the way. Seaplanes fly in daylight only, so guests landing late in the day usually spend a night near the airport and fly on next morning. Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is at 12:00.
