The island
Cocoon Maldives is a 5-star resort on the large island of Ookolhufinolhu in Lhaviyani Atoll, around 30–35 minutes from Velana International Airport by seaplane, or by domestic flight and speedboat. Its villas were designed with Italian furniture brand LAGO, giving the resort a distinctive, modern Italian style alongside a relaxed barefoot rhythm and an excellent house reef.
Villas and suites
There are 150 villas. Beach Villas (about 50 m²) and Beach Suites (about 70 m²) sit on the sand, with the Beach Suite with Pool adding a plunge pool and the Family Beach Villa (about 100 m²) sleeping four. Over the water, Lagoon Villas (about 65 m²) and Lagoon Suites with Slide (about 70 m²) let guests slide straight into the sea.
Dining and drinks
Octopus serves themed buffets and live stations, Manta Restaurant offers overwater à la carte dining and Japanese Garden has teppanyaki. Kurum-Bar and Loabi Loabi Bar cover sunset drinks and evening entertainment. Meal plans run from bed & breakfast to all inclusive.
Spa and activities
The Cube Spa, a sauna, steam room, fitness centre and yoga classes cover wellness. There is a pool with a swim-up bar, a kids' club and playground, kayaking, snorkelling, dolphin cruises, fishing and sandbank picnics.
Getting there
Cocoon Maldives is reached from Velana International Airport (MLE) in Malé, the main international gateway to the Maldives. The seaplane flight takes about 35 minutes, with views over the atolls on the way. Another option is a domestic flight of about 35 minutes, then a speedboat of about 20 minutes. Seaplanes fly in daylight only, so guests landing late in the day usually spend a night near the airport and fly on next morning. Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is at 12:00. We arrange the transfer with the resort and include it in your quote.
